OurCountryPAC: It's Not Iran - It's Obama's Administration Here in America

Update from the House Republican Study Committee (RSC)

RSC Update: Monday, July 13, 2009

From the Chairman
After six months, it’s now clear that President Obama’s economic policies aren’t producing an economic recovery. In addition to the $787 billion so-called stimulus package, the Democrats have handed billions of taxpayers’ dollars to the auto industry, the mortgage industry, financial institutions, and more. All the President has to show for his efforts are mounting job losses and the largest deficit in history, an estimated $1.85 trillion in Fiscal Year 2009.

President Obama recently tried to push back against criticism of his policies by arguing that his ‘stimulus’ plan was never intended to produce a fast recovery. While conservatives have known all along that it wouldn’t spark a quick economic recovery, we also recall that members of his administration repeatedly claimed it would provide an immediate boost. And if that wasn’t the President’s intention, what was the point? With the President now attempting to move the goalposts, it’s time to end the bailouts and stop his out-of-control spending.

Once again, the RSC is taking a stand. Last week, we introduced H.R. 3140, the Reducing Barack Obama’s Unsustainable Deficit Act, a.k.a. the REBOUND Act. The REBOUND Act cancels the spending portion of the non-stimulus package, saving taxpayers about $460 billion. It also reclaims all unobligated TARP money, currently around $150 billion, and requires all future repayments of TARP funds to go exclusively toward debt reduction. The Obama administration is currently using TARP as a revolving slush fund from which they can “invest” taxpayer dollars into whatever bailout they claim is needed next.

If anyone needs a bailout, it’s the American taxpayer. This simply cannot continue, and the RSC will keep fighting against the reckless (and apparently pointless) economic policies of President Obama and his allies in Congress.

Sincerely,
Congressman Tom Price
Chairman, Republican Study Committee

RSC Media Activity
Every week, Republican Study Committee members work hard to ensure that the conservative viewpoint is well-represented in all corners of the media.

· Rep. Phil Roe (TN-01): So Where Are All the Jobs?;Weekly Column, July 8.

· Chairman Tom Price (GA-06): We Can Win on Health Care; TownHall.com, July 9.

· Rep. John Campbell (CA-48): A Right to Health Care?; Weekly Column, July 12.

RSC Legislative Activity
RSC members have made it a priority to introduce productive, conservative alternatives to the Democrats’ reckless agenda.

· Rep. John Fleming (LA-04) has introduced a resolution urging Members of Congress who vote for a government-run health care plan to put their money where their mouth is by enrolling in it themselves.

· Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) and other RSC members sent a letter to Vice President Biden requesting an explanation for why a Department of Energy stimulus program no longer requires job creation as a condition for receiving funds.

Outlook
Here is a preview of upcoming Democrat proposals to advance their big-government, anti-taxpayer agenda.

· The Democrats will most likely continue to trivialize the process of spending taxpayer dollars by refusing to allow a full and open amendment process for appropriations bills. On the schedule this week are the Energy and Water Appropriations bill and the Financial Services & General Government Appropriations bill.

· The House may also consider H.R. 2701, the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010. Because this legislation authorizes the federal government’s intelligence activities, much of it is classified. Democrats have inserted a number of controversial provisions, and the White House has threatened to veto the bill due to one that would increase the likelihood of leaked information by opening certain intelligence briefings to more Members of Congress.

House Floor Activity
The following key legislation came through the House of Representatives last week.

· House Democrats continued to zip through the appropriations process with little opportunity for amendment and debate. Last week, the House considered three appropriations bills: H.R. 2997, the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act; H.R. 3028, the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act; and H.R. 3082, the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act.

STATEMENT ENDORSING MONTANA PERSONHOOD MOVEMENT

Washington, DC (13 July 2009) – The following is a statement from Judie Brown, president of American Life League and member of the Pontifical Academy for Life, regarding the Montana Pro-Life Coalition's effort to gain legal recognition of human personhood – for the born and preborn.

"Recognition of human personhood is not a question of consensus, but a moral imperative grounded in the most basic truths of the Catholic faith.

"As the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the country, American Life League applauds Montana’s effort to protect the dignity of every human being as a person from his or her biological beginning.

"This courageous effort is rooted in the core principles of Catholic social teaching. Galvanized by a vision of what Pope John Paul II called the “culture of life,” Montanans are promoting the most fundamental human right – the recognition and protection of human personhood – a God-given right the Catholic Church has proclaimed and preached for 2,000 years, a God-given right countless Catholic martyrs have sacrificed their very lives to uphold.

"Montanans are not alone. They’re joined by Catholics and other members of the pro-life movement around the country who are hungry for truth and justice – hungry for the legal recognition of human personhood. Seventeen states – and counting – are working on initiatives that proclaim this fundamental human right.

"Over the past 36 years, many in the pro-life movement have embraced a strategy of so-called pragmatism. However, many others, including those of us at American Life League, are horrified at its obvious failure and ongoing diminishing returns. Opponents will never give us the optimal climate for doing the right thing. Now is the time for the entire pro-life movement to regain the vision and passion that have inspired every human rights champion throughout history. It’s about human personhood."

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death. Rep. Michele Bachmann Video: Audit The Federal Reserve

Alaska Claims Sovereignty: Gov. Sarah Palin

Gov. Sarah Palin leaves Alaska with a most precious parting gift by signing the Alaskan Sovereignty Resolution. Alaska now claims their sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution. Their House passed the resolution and Senate passed it with no negative votes (3 not-voting in the House). What a victory for Alaska and what a show by Gov. Palin.

The Secret Society Of The Federal Reserve? Chuck Norris' Take

With great minds like Judge Andrew Napolitano and Ron Paul working for the people and calling for an audit of the Federal Reserve we should be supporting them and contacting our representatives. No matter how many times they strike it down we should never back down.

Chuck Norris gives his take on the renegade Federal Reserve's unrestrained train wreck. Obama's promise for tansparency was a lie just like his other campaign lies; promises he never intended on keeping. They can't afford for the American people to see what they have done because they have another stimulus they want to get passed.

Sarah Palin: The Media Just Don't Get It

There are those in the media claiming that Sarah Palin is going to campaign for Democrats now! Wow, that was quite a leap away from common sense and good judgement. It just goes to show you that they are so used to twisting the truth and making up their own conclusions they cannot even see the writing on the wall.

Her comment that she would "go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation" does not automatically mean Democrats. They cannot even see outside of their little box. She is referring to third party affiliation (and maybe a good, Conservative Dem, if one can ever be found).

If you are going to miss the mark by that much guys maybe you shouldn't be taking pot shots at all; leave it to us Conservatives and we'll get the job done right.

Rep. Cantor Release

Cantor: "Bad Policy Makes For Bad Politics"
July 12, 2009
Contact:Brad Dayspring

“What the public is beginning to see is that again the realization of the old adage that bad policy makes for bad politics. And that's what you've got here. You've got policies aimed at trying to arrest the downfall in this economy, and it's simply not working.” – House Republican Whip Eric Cantor

House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA)
Fox News’ “Fox News Sunday
July 12, 2009
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yZIOpYKhP0

Cantor: “I Do Think It Is Fair To Say That The Stimulus Is A Flop”…

Fox News’ Chris Wallace: “The latest jobs numbers show despite White House projections that the stimulus package would keep unemployment under 8%, it's now at 9.5% and climbing. Is it fair to say that the stimulus is a bust or just that it's too soon to tell?”

Rep. Eric Cantor: “Chris, I do think it is fair to say that the stimulus is a flop. The goal that was set when we passed it was unemployment wouldn't rise past 8.5% and what we see now is businesses just aren't hiring. Even the best projections have us losing 750,000 more jobs this year.”

Cantor: “We Shouldn’t Be Making It Hard For People To Hire Right Now”…

Wallace: “So the White House is talking now about spending the current stimulus faster, getting the money out more quickly. I gather you want to rewrite the plan?”

Rep. Cantor: “Listen, we met and I met with the President along with our Republican Leader, John Boehner, back in January. We presented the President with our plan. And the President was insistent that we go his route and that we deploy the nearly $800 billion in order to get the money spent. We said from the very beginning we need to be about preserving, creating, protecting jobs.”

Wallace: “So, how would you do that?”

Rep. Cantor: “How we would do that is we would, number one, give people the ability and incentives to hire people. I mean, it's very difficult. And when we see the cap-and-trade bill that just passed, when we see the health care that’s being proposed this week, how those bills are coming down the pike is basically on the backs of small business people. We shouldn't be making it harder for people to hire right now. We should be giving small businesses an incentive to hire. Give them a tax break. Give individuals hope that we're going to lower energy costs, not increase it like we did with cap-and-trade.”

Cantor: “Bad Policy Makes For Bad Politics”…

Wallace: “We're beginning to see the first cracks in public support for President Obama. According to the Gallup Poll, support for the President among independents has dropped from 59% in June to 53% so far this month. And in the key state of Ohio, Mr. Obama’s job approval has fallen from 62% in May to under 50% for the first time. How big an opportunity is this, Congressman, for Republicans?”

Rep. Cantor: “I think that all of us want this country to get back on track right now. We just have some huge challenges. What the public is beginning to see is that again the realization of the old adage that bad policy makes for bad politics. And that's what you've got here. You've got policies aimed at trying to arrest the downfall in this economy, and it's simply not working. And so the opportunity is for the Republican Party to demonstrate that it can and deserves to lead again, and that's why we've been very outspoken in terms of our position on how we address this growing unemployment situation.”

JUSTICE GINSBURG NEEDS TO EXPLAIN HERSELF

Catholic League president Bill Donohue says U.S. Supreme Court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg needs to explain her recent comment on abortion and eugenics:

Excerpts of a
New York Times Magazine interview with Ruth Bader Ginsburg, which will appear on July 12, include the following quote by the Supreme Court Justice about the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion: “Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe
was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.”

By contrast, consider what Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, said about this subject:

· “Eugenic sterilization is an urgent need…We must prevent Multiplication of this bad stock.”
· “Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race.”
· “Today eugenics is suggested by the most diverse minds as the most adequate and thorough avenue to the solution of racial, political and social problems.”
· “We are paying for, and even submitting to, the dictates of an ever-increasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all.”
· “We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.”

There is another reason why Ginsburg needs to clarify her remark. Before she was seated on the Supreme Court in 1993, she hired 57 law clerks over a period of 13 years. All were white. Now if Antonin Scalia, for example, were associated with her disturbing remark, and if he had never hired a single African American, he already would have been branded a racist. At the very least, Ginsburg should be questioned about her explosive comment.

Porkulus Is As Porkulus Does

Now this is my kind of writing. Michelle Malkin says how it is (in a way much like I would) with the spending frenzy of the Obama stimulus. They keep trying to call it by other names and make fuzzy claims that it is not a waste and that it is creating jobs.

Give us a break! We are not stupid, weak-minded, numb zombies who will follow where ever the liberals lead or believe the BS they keep feeding us. We are Americans! There is a reason they call her the Land of the free and the brave; we fought for it. We will fight this too.

Don't give up demanding accountability from your representatives. They would love nothing more than for you to go away and let the off the hook.

POPE AND OBAMA’S VIEWS CONVERGING?

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on reports that the pope’s new encyclical,
Charity in Truth
, places the Holy Father to the left of President Barack Obama on some issues:

Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good advises Catholics to “Suggest to your pastor that he give a homily highlighting the Pope’s reflections on social justice and the common good.” Notice what was excluded: the pope’s thoughts on the sanctity of human life, bioethics, the indiscriminate acceptance of all lifestyles, sexuality as a form of entertainment, the role of religion in the public square, etc. It is hardly surprising that left-wing Catholics do not want to highlight these issues, but the ironies run even deeper.

In his encyclical, the pope says that “
respect for life
” [his italics] is “an aspect which has acquired increasing prominence in recent time, obliging us to broaden our concept of poverty….” Are the pope’s new fans prepared to think of abortion as a poverty issue?

The best way to service the poor, according to the pope, is not to create bureaucratic monstrosities that cripple the dignity of the indigent. “By considering reciprocity as the heart of what it is to be a human being, [the principle of] subsidiarity is the most effective antidote against any form of all-encompassing welfare state.” Similarly, the pope admonishes us not to promote “paternalist social assistance that is demeaning to those in need.” In other words, the tried and failed, dependency-inducing welfare programs that mark the social policy prescriptions of the poverty industry are seen by the pope as a disaster. Not exactly what those who work for HHS want to hear.

Finally, when the pope slams greed and criticizes a market economy shorn of moral principles, he is hardly upsetting most of those who champion the rights of the unborn. But some stereotypes are hard to break.

Carly Fiorina "Seriously Considering" A Run For Boxer's Seat

A survey has found that among Republican voters Carly Fiorina is ahead of Devore for California's Senate seat 31% to 19%, with 50% undecided. The media are already putting her weaknesses in the forefront such as her resignation from Hewlett Packard and her bout with breast cancer, but they have overlooked (or ignored) her strengths. She is the first woman to challenge Ms. Barbara Boxer, she is financially stable as if she chooses to face the Democrat incumbent, and she is pro-life. She is a threat.

Given a pro-life, true Conservative choice the traditionally Conservative voters in California who have been sitting out elections because there was no good candidate are going to turn out in droves. This may be enough, along with her ability to help in the financial crisis facing California.

The liberals don't see her as a real threat, but Ms. Boxer's entitled attitude may be an even bigger threat when voters enter the booth. Fiorina is running against one of the most arrogant liberal Senators, by far, and this will make her task easier. Remember Boxer's famous disrespect of Brigadier General Michael Walsh?

Editor Note: I noticed the Boxer/Brigadier General video was removed from YouTube due to copyright infringement; just another example of liberal elitists taking a law (copyright law was not intended to so suppressive) and twisting it to censor Conservatives.

Editor Note: Correction was made to show that Fiorina resigned from Hewlett Packard and was not fired as indicated by the linked article. Another twist of the truth by the media.

Dr. Rand Paul On The Government's Plan To Take Over Healthcare

Dr. Rand Paul is running for Senate; wouldn't be nice to have this articulate, Libertarian, Conservative in the Senate?

Our country's economy has fallen apart. The number of people receiving food stamps is exploding and now the Obama administration wants to socialize our healthcare system. We cannot afford it. The bottom line is, if you want to fix our economy it is simple; more freedom, less government.

URGENT! Stop Your Government From Protecting Pedophiles

The US House snuck passage of the Pedophile Protection Act under the Hate Crimes Legislation. This legislation would protect pedophilia as a sexual orientation. If passed by the Senate you could be imprisoned for 10 years if you harm a pedophile in the process of protecting your child from his attack.

This legislation would make those defending children from the horrors of child abuse at the hands of a pedophile criminals. And these legislators dare call themselves civilized. They seem to have the same standards as 3rd world guerrillas raping children, leaving a trail of genocide and destruction where ever they go.

They would rather see good outstanding citizens with morals go to prison than to see justice served upon a pedophile. They would rather see children abused and destroyed and put the offending pedophile on a protective pedestal than to serve and protect the public.

They are so blinded by their tolerance and self gratification that they don't even understand what civilized is anymore. Do you really want those with such deep flaws and sick minds making the laws of your land?

Stop the Pedophile Protection Act now by contacting your representative; before it is too late.
